Jefferson and Hamilton’s actions embody visions, both serving in George Washington’s Cabinet. When George Washington chose Hamilton as the nation’s first Secretary of Treasury, along with Jefferson as Secretary of State, he put into power two brilliant men with radically different ideals of what the United States ought to become, and different plans for how to reach their goals (Smith 2).
