Medicinal marijuana can be used to treat terminally ill patients along with a wide variety of other ailments, such as cancer, AIDs, glaucoma, and can help patients deal with pain. The government’s arguments against legalizing marijuana for any reasons, including medicinal, come from many agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Agency. They argue that if it becomes legal for only medicinal reasons, then people will raise the question of why marijuana is illegal at all if it’s a medicine. The DEA’s main reason for not supporting the legalization of marijuana comes from the fact that twenty years of research has shown no reliable scientific proof that marijuana has medical value.
