It is hard to go through a day in life without hearing some type of music. ... Censorship is a major social issue in our diverse society; as a result there are many sides to be taken on whether or not songs should be edited for content
To begin with, some people are fervently for the censorship of music while others express that censoring is a violation of basic human rights. Individuals who are opposed to the editing of questionable content passionately believe that this censoring of lyrics should not be allowed because it forces the artists to rethink their expressions and feelings which are supposedly protected by our nation’s government. ... This group deems that crude humor, obscene lyrics, sexual references, drug abuse, and domestic violence should all be edited out of songs because they are having a negative influence on our Nation’s society. ... If a song is not edited, then I think that the whole album should be a recipient of a parental advisory sticker. ... Both sides of censorship do have valid arguments, but as far as I am concerned all music should be edited for content.
