A PERSUASIVE ESSAY
The use of stimulant drugs, such as Ritalin, has become widespread in the medical treatment of children. Parents throughout the country are being pressured by schools to give psychiatric drugs to their children. ... Often these same schools will recommend particular physicians who favor the use of stimulant drugs to control behavior. These stimulant drugs include Ritalin, Dexedrine, and Adderall. ... It would make great sense in these instances to find a solution for learning, for these children other than dulling their senses with drugs. My purpose, in this essay, is to provide a basis for rejecting the use of stimulants for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or for the control of behavior in the classroom or home.
