Looking down 100 feet was a terrifying experience for a 19 year old. I can still remember seeing the tops of the pine trees sway with the wind at such a high altitude. My body felt loaded with all the intricate knots and mechanical devices that were supposed to “protect” me. My first rappel jump proved to be the most fearful experience I ever overcame. To this day I remember my first rappel jump being filled with both excitement and fear. Fear is something that most people have. Some may fear snakes and others may fear spiders, but I dreaded heights. For the longest time I was petrified whenever I was put in a position that required me to put my feet on anything higher than the ground.
