The four functions of management; planning, organizing, leading, and controlling are the four corners to a solid business foundation. One of the areas than I contribute planning to my organization has to do with compliance. Every six months we are given a chart of issues that we must address and complete to remain in compliance with the standards set by our policy makers at the corporate level. I assign tasks to my employees and determine the deadlines for each item. However, organizing the demands that our corporate office puts on us does not stop with compliance. The other issues that I organize for the company is our new and used equipment sales, and the merchandise ordering and display. Purchasing of merchandise is something that I have just recently begun to delegate to one of my employees. Compliance, used equipment sales, and merchandise sales are areas that I am comfortable delegating. I coordinate with the sales reps on what new equipment to buy, and then I see the transaction through from start to finish without delegating. I pride myself on using the policies and procedures that have been established to show the corporation a strong return on their investment. All of our policies and procedures are dictated by the corporate office, and I use them to make sure we comply with their demands.
