For both the 1940’s and the 1960’s, war was an event that defined the dreams of the people who experienced it. In the 1940’s, the main focus was World War II, whereas in the 19’s, the Vietnam War was taking place. ... In spite of America’s reluctance to enter WWII, the US citizens emphatically supported the war effort. Their support for their government’s decision greatly contrasted to that of the lack of support for the Vietnam War. ... People’s rights had not yet come to the attention of the population in the 1940’s, and therefore they were able to concentrate on supporting and giving money for World War II. ... The 1960’s were very much about questioning the government, and making things fair for all groups of people so that their own individual dreams of working a leveled playing field would become a reality. ...
1940’s fashion was very conservative compared to the wild variety of the 1960’s.
