Synthesis on Julius Caesar and King Lear
There is no perfect leader. ... In Julius Caesar, a dictator name Julius Caesar, hence the title of the play, was an admirable ruler who defeated the great Pompey in a battle to win the title of emperor. Nonetheless, followers of Pompey disagreed with Caesar’s way of rule, and therefore a conspiracy of murder lead to the assassination of Caesar. The assassination of Caesar lead to chaos in Rome and citizens yearned for revenge on the conspirators.
In portraying Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare is less interested in dealing with a figure of legendary greatness than he is in creating a character who is consistent with the other aspects of drama (Cliff Notes on Julius Caesar, 61).
