We live in Mexico, and obviously we not going to hear in the local news about racism in Mexico. We know a lot of information about how is racism in United States, and we always say that Americans are the most racists in the world. But can racism be higher in Mexico that in the United States? ... Racism is a consequence of difference wrote Carla Power on July 23, 2001 in Newsweek magazine. ... We always think that what is different to what we are, based on what we were thought, is wrong, and therefore racism begins. As Mexicans, we have been tought that United States is the bag guy when we talk about racism, but we have our eyes closed and we don’t see that racism is a big problem inside our society. A country that has more differences among people in the country has less racism (MacMaster, 2001). ... Because of this political difference racism has been lowered in US while in Mexico has been raising significantly since 1970. ... This difference in percents clearly shows that there is less racism nowadays. This reduction is a consequence of the effort being made versus racism.
