Chewing on the rubber pencil tip, Lacey tries desperately to ignore the low groans and growls from her midsection. Less than an hour ago, she raided the fridge for a quick dinner. Grabbing something else, so soon, is sure to make her father suspicious. She glances away from the diagrams and formulas of her Physics homework and stares at her door, locked as always. Faintly, Lacey hears the murmuring of voices...the television in her father's room. She sighs, her eyes limping back to the paper. Normally, the teenager did anything but her schoolwork; tonight, the dulling equations and soon, the 'el' and 'la' s of Spanish calm her nerves.
