Explain the meaning and significance of inerrancy” The basic definition for inerrancy is: something that is “exempt or free from error”. something that is with out flaw, perfect. (The bible is an inerrant book it has no flaws and no mistakes it is perfect.) I have chosen a few scriptures that back this up. First the bible says in Heb 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie….: in this verse it is very obvious that it was impossible for God to lie. Also it says 2 Tim 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he (God) cannot deny himself. Again we see that God cannot lie it is impossible for him to lie. Therefore if it is impossible for God to lie and the Bible is the inspired word of God then according to these verses the bible is also inerrant. It has no flaws, no errors, and no imperfections. It is perfect. The reason that this is so significant is that the Bible is the foundation of the Christian belief. And if the Bible was not inerrant and it had some flaws then we as Christians would have nothing to base our beliefs on and nothing to back us up. Christianity would just be an idea or myth of some people long ago in the bible days and not fact. But because of the fact that the Bible is inerrant and perfect we can believe every word in it and base our lives accordingly. Quotes: “The Bible is none other than the voice of him that sitteth upon the throne. Every book of it, every syllable of it, every letter of it, is the direct utterance of the Most High” --John William Burgon “The biblical writers invented not their words themselves, suited to the things that they learned, but only expressed the words they received.” --John Owen “Explain the meaning and significance of the sovereignty of God” To explain the meaning and significance of the sovereignty of God we first need to know exactly what sovereignty is. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines sovereignty as: having supreme power, one that exercises supreme power. (Over someone or something.) I have chosen a few passages from the Bible to show that God does have sovereignty over us. And that God controls every aspect of our lives. It says in Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. And in Proverbs 23:7 For as he (Man) thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. As we see in the first verse God can control the king’s heart. And if God controls the king’s heart then he can defiantly control our heart and he can turn it which ever way he wants to. Also we see in the second verse that, as a man thinketh in his heart so is he. In other words your heart is what determines who you really are, affecting the way we act and the way that other people think about us.
