John Thoreau was a shop keeper, but not much of a business man. Henry’s mother , Cynthia
Thoreau was a women who loved nature and outdoors. As a child, Thoreau was confident, settle
and secure. ... From 1841 to 1843, Thoreau lived
in the home of Ralph Emerson, an American essayist and transcendental philosopher. Thoreau
then started writing and lecturing ( Kilstrom 1). Two year later he moved to a hut on the shores
of Walden Pond, which was a small body of water on the outskirts of Concord. Thoreau
supported himself by doing odd jobs. ... He ended up writing a book
about his experiences at Walden Pond, which was published in 1854 (Encarta 1). ... ”(Thoreau 371)
