The concept of backpacking, which has been evolving for the past ten years to emerge as a cultural phenomenon, offers to independent travellers to get the most out of their stay in a foreign country. Backpacking allows young people to seek out their dreams of travelling around the world within a tight budget.
The purpose of this study is to explain and understand the motivations and reasons driving young people to get involved in short or long trips as backpackers and the issues arising from this kind of travel. The matter would be approached on the basis of the data collected from an interview performed for the space of 40 minutes to a respondent aged 21 years, who went backpacking around Russia, Mongolia and China. ...
The respondent (pa, 2) was thinking of travelling alone because of the difficulties implied on planning the trip between two people although, finally, he went successfully accompanied. Many backpackers prefer to travel alone because it can be difficult to consent with the travel companion and easier to mix with people in foreign countries but, on the other hand, there are other travellers who prefer to share their new experiences with somebody who has the same interest than them. ...

On average, the age of people that the data met was twenty-five years old (pag, 7-8). This average can be the result of facts such as young people taking a gap year during their studies or after their studies and the lack of big responsibilities. ... On average, the subject in relation to other people during the trip had a good impression (pa, 13) although it was not always the case (pa, 12). Backpackers are meeting people the whole time during their trips in hostels, attractions and travelling. ...
Conclusions
Finally, it is possible to conclude that nowadays the concept of backpacking is becoming a strong option for those people interested in travelling independently and within a tight budget.
