How does the author of « The story of an hour » use symbolism ?

“The story of an hour” is a rather famous American short story which was written in 1894 by Kate Chopin. To understand the story more easily it is adviseable to take a look at the author`s life. Kate Chopin got married at the age of twenty and gave birth to six children within a very short period of time. ... In “The story of an hour” it becomes obvious that she is opposed to the institution of marriage. Here she tells us the story of Mrs Mallard who is told that her husband has died in an accident. Chopin then discribes a short period of grief and an entirely different feeling the widow may experience in regard to her husband`s death.
