FAR. Focus Area of Research. Research. During the course of this project I am going to be researching play and toys and linking this through visits, to how Arthur is developing. I will collect my information on play and toys by researching on the internet and reading through a variety of texts concerning play and toys and also relating this to safety. My aim is to get a greater understanding of the procceses of play and will help me understand the stages of development Arthur is showing. What is play? Play is a way for a child to learn skills and concepts necessary for life. Children play for many of their childhood years and from it many skills are developed. Enthusiasm, concentration, sociability and determination can be learnt through play and exploration, and play no doubt prepares children for adult life. Although a child cannot tell the child what to play or how to do so, they can help by: Being a companion to the child if he is on his own Providing help and reassurance to the child Preventing fights Helping set things up Making sure the child has a wide variety of games and objects to play with Encouraging imagination.
