BACKGROUND
This all started when AOL told me i had to change the following line in my Profile:
"Attention HAGS (Horny AOL Guys) - if it isnt in my profile, Im not into it. ...
Not satisfied with that answer I spoke to another AOL employee who said it was NOT
the word HORNY, but the MESSAGE of the entire sentence which, he believed, violated
TOS because it SINGLED OUT a group of people on AOL ("Horny Guys").
He suggested i delete that part and then my profile would be A-OK. ... For example, in a discussion about
forms of cancer, the words breast or testicular would be acceptable, but slang
versions of those words would not be acceptable anywhere"
With that in mind, i began an informal "survey" of AOL profiles. ...
The criteria I use to decide on who to report was this:
profiles using strong ro crude language to express hatred or dislike of a group of people
based on sexual orientation.
I did NOT report people whos profiles:
a) contained "offensive words" in a context of non-threatening speech
(e. ... "I love being a fag hag" OR "So what if Im gay? ...
So I did NOT report someone whos profile said: "Hate fags? ... " - Eminem
But I DID report profiles which simply said "Hate fags? ... com
