DIRECETOR SPOTLIGHT-DARIO ARGENTO
The exquisitely beautiful and brutally raw world of Italian Horror is a place all true horror fans are familiar with. For those of you who are not at all familiar with the genre of Italian horror, It is my esteemed pleasure to introduce you to the movie in question. Suspiria, by many of the genre’s buffs, is considered the milestone or the doorway if you will, to Italian Horror. As it is usually the first movie of the genre that fans have seen…it’s kind of like the Akiria or Ninja Scroll of Italian horror. ... Dario Argento
(Yes, his daughter Asia is in the new action flick XXX, she also has been in a
decent amount of her daddy’s flicks as well.)
Argento is unarguably the premiere virtuoso of ‘’I‘’horror. ... Argento has a reserved place as one of my heroes. ...
Suspiria was released in 1977, the first installment of Argento’s Tale of the 3 Mothers. ...
Argento orchestrates this grim tale with unimaginable style and unprecedented execution. ...
Even at the age of 12 when I first saw this movie, I was amazed at the way Argento was able to so vividly capture atmosphere, and intensify action with the mere use of color. A filmmaking technique often taken for granted, and mastered by none outside of Argento. ... Argento or the flick the slightest sliver of justice.
I would just like to say that I have yet to see horror visualized in such a poetic vein, then I have in Suspiria. ... Argento’s infamous tactic of not showing you the killer’s face till the end comes into play with Suspiria, as well as a climactic build up at the movie’s end that brought me to one of the most unadulterated senses of eagerness I’ve ever witnessed in cinema.
