... This flaw is well proven through the case of David Millgard; a young man who is wrongly accused of rape and murder in the first degree.
While on a trip out of town to visit a friend, David Millgard was arrested for the rape and murder of Gale Miller, a young lady whom he was seen talking to a short time before her brutal demise. He was interrogated by several mature police officers, who had quite obviously been through this procedure before and knew just what do say and do in order to intimidate young Millgard. They considered David a hippie, and hippies were not look upon highly where the law was concerned. Not only did they succeed in scaring him, they also humiliated David by forcing him to remove his clothing and stand in the interrogation room naked. ... David Millgard was then arrested and taken into custody.
Millgard’s case was heard in front of both judge and jury. ... Although David did not speak on his own behalf, he listened to his friends who accompanied him on the day of Miller’s murder testify against him, one going so far as to say that he saw blood on David’s pants.
