It was seen through recurring images, sounds and slogans, that without consumerism, the new worlds developed – the World State and Los Angeles 2019 - wouldn’t have been the same. ... Blade Runner also showed consumerism through mottos, lights and advertisements and technological advances, including the replicants and Tyrell’s Corporation. ... This, the World’s State motto, was first referred to in the first paragraph of Brave New World. ... The World Controllers, such as Mustapha Mond, believe that no one is to do things for themselves – anything done is to benefit the rest of the community. ... ’ This shows the consumerism in the World State by showing that it is better to throw things out than to fix them so that the community benefits as a result of having more work for the factories to do, in producing more goods for consumption. ...

This world, being based on the mass production of Henry Ford’s car in the 19th century, has made the production of human beings very technologically advanced. ...
