Shinger’s novel “ The Catcher in the Rye” ,Holden Caulfield, a seventeen-year-old troubled young boy who is not quite so sure of what he is doing is experiencing the pains or growing up. ... He tells his sister that he wants to be the catcher in the rye. ... ” He makes up his mind that he not only has to keep his own innocence, but also must try to protect the purity of children who have not yet known adulthood. ...
Nevertheless, as a result of Holden coming across his sister Phoebe and the “fuck you “ on the wall of the school, Holden’s dream of becoming the catcher is beginning to vanish, because the “fuck you” carved on the wall cannot be erased or covered, Holden feels, if the children see it, they will lose their innocence and purity. ... Everyone has to take the fall to become an adult and even a catcher can come to no help. ...
