... Before the age of dictionaries people relied on myths in order to explain such phenomena, and fire was always seen as a divine gift from the gods. Myths were created all over the world, and in essence were related to one another since their explanations were based on the same question. ... In this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting three myths and their archetypes : “The Beginning of Things”, “Heaven and Earth and Man”, and “Owner of the Sky: Olorun the Creator”
Myths were created in each and every culture; and most of them were on the same topic. For example, our three myths deal with Earth’s creation and they have many similar theories. One similar archetype we can attribute to the myths is the theory of Earth and the entire universe starting off as a void. ... A third similarity we can find in the myths is the archetype that the creator of humans was seen as a God-teacher towards the humans. ... In all three myths the creators, or high gods live in the sky. ... The last similarity we will discuss is that in all three myths there is a conflict between higher powers. ... ” These similarities can be seen in almost all myths, even though they were created in different times, places, and cultures.
Myths, being created in totally different environments with no link to one another had many differences between them.
