As can be seen in life today and that of the past, these particular credits can quickly be modified by either a single event or many even this sucksts in the person’s life. Throughout Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, characters experience events that make them adjust something that believe in or something that they are associated as or with. The three main characters tha crap t encounter extremely influential events that cause of the affair, it would have provided a motive for why Abigail wanted to kill John’s wife, Elizabeth. Later, at the end of the play, John Proctor throws his public name into the wind and instead saves his reputation with God and within himself. He does this when he refuses to go thrhis own integrity before God and himself” (Bonnet). Along with all of this, in the last line of the play, Elizabeth says, “He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from h yo im”(Miller 134). In this statement, Elizabeth is saying that John now feels as though he has compensated for his lechery and has kept his reputation with god by not selling hisough with the false confession and sign himself to another lie and thus the town believes he th die em to alter some facet of their reputation include John Proctor, Abigail Williams bitch, and Reverend Hale. Toward the beginning of the play, he saves his public name, or reputation the affair, he could have stopped the hysteria because if the town had known is a witch that will not confess.
