This inability to see enemy troops or even distinguish them from civilian Vietnamese led to the search and destroy missions from 1965 and operations such as “Rolling Thunder” bombing the land blindly with napalm and agent orange, this mainly due to the media painted a bad picture world wide, the Americans loosing support of the Vietnamese they had come to help and what would eventually lead to America’s failure and demise in the Vietnam war.
