Has one ever opened up the newspaper to the sports page and seen the gigantic amounts of money that professional athletes are making? Some people argue that athletes make what they deserve because of everything it takes to be a professional, while others say that professional athletes make too much money. Steve McNair quarterback for the Tennessee Titans received a sixteen million dollar signing bonus on a six-year deal worth forty-seven million dollars in all, some professional athletes hold out for even greater sums of money. Professional athletes do not deserve what they get paid because it causes ticket prices to become too high, their careers are not significant in today’s society, and large amounts of money at an early age can get professional athletes into trouble.
If professional athletes did not make as much money, ticket prices would go down. The goal of every business is to make as much money as possible. Professional sports franchises attain the best and most popular athletes that they can, who will help the team win as much as possible. To get a very high quality athlete, the franchise has to dish out large amounts of money. ...
