"The power to expose a whole population to death is the underside of the power to guarantee an individuals continued existence. ... " It is because I agree with the words of Michel Foucault I must affirm the resolution: When the United States is engaged in military conflict, the demands of nation security ought to supercede conflicting claims of individual rights. Before we begin todays round I would like to offer the following observation:
The affirmative would only be infringing on rights during times in which national security is at stake and would only be temporary until security is restored. ... The fact that rights do not exist with out security and furthermore, life does not exist with out security is indisputable. With out life, provided by security rights and liberty do not exist. ... is forced to retract these rights, there is obviously a question of national stability. ... " To better protect the countrys security a limitation on the freedom of the press might occur. ... Thus, we lose our military advantage of surprise due to the press, and Americas national security has been threatened.
