How have you taken advantage of the educational opportunities you have had to prepare for college? During my four years at Burton high school, I have been given opportunities to improve my learning skills, by taking honors/AP classes. Every year, I challenged myself by doing the best I can in the courses I was given - especially my Advance Placement and language classes. My grades weren’t always the best, but nevertheless a lot was learned from classes which included computers, sciences, mathematics, both Chinese(Mandarin) and Spanish, and English. The AP classes, academically, had very high expectations such as more homework, difficult essay questions, and deeper analysis in our work and tests. By the end of my Junior year I realized that college was lurking around the corner so I decided to join the PACT program. A program that helps high school students like me prepare for the SATs and offers workshops that help with financial aid and college applications, PACT is a program that I can undoubtedly say I did not regret joining. Tell us about a talent, experience, contribution or personal quality you will bring to the University of California. The year I graduated from 8th grade, I also finished my 7 years at AU CO Vietnamese Language School, learning the culture, language and history of Vietnam, my parent’s homeland. I wanted a challenge, so I decided to help as a teacher’s assistant for the Kindergarten/1st grade teacher at the Vietnamese school.
