Do social circumstances matter more than our personal qualities? This is the core problem that social psychologists are facing with. Almost every research conducted in this area of psychology is focused on influence of social environment on our thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviors. Now it is widely known that our personality is not isolated from the social world. ... We want it or not, in most of the times it is social context that has a marked impact on our feelings and behaviors. But of course many conditions must be fulfilled before we “decide” whether or not to conform to social norms, someone else’s expectations etc. ... Social circumstances are forcing us to behave in a way that do not express our personal qualities, beliefs and opinions.
