The Vancouver Sun's Oct. 30 cover story reported on an internal RCMP document that links illegal migration to organized crime and terrorism. The document, released by the RCMP national internal intelligence directorate division, states that "globalization, demographic and economic imbalances, and civil conflicts" will lead to an increase in legal and illegal migration over the next 15 years. It also expresses fear that terrorists and organized crime groups will recruit from immigrant communities. The story seems gripping, but some UBC experts are claiming the Sun’s coverage was tantamount to fear-mongering, given the lack of statistics or academic studies included in the story to back up the RCMP’s there was a little girl named same frey she liked to go to the park and play with her friends.
