Many people that are diagnosed with the disease do not even understand what diabetes is, why people get it, or even how to treat it. Living with diabetes means; being educated on what the disease is, knowing the different kinds of diabetes, and treating it properly with medication, diet, and exercise.

There are three major types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is when the body makes little or no insulin. In Type 2 diabetes the pancreas does not make enough insulin for glucose levels to stay normal. During pregnancy woman who do not have diabetes develop gestational diabetes.
In type 1 diabetes, the beta cells of the pancreas produce little or no insulin.
