participation of individual girls and women in science and education, and instead expand their focus to look at the relationship between girls’ access to education and the class roles that are created by capitalism. The combination of gender and class position might affect girls and women’s access to science education and the overall structure of market work might give more economic rewards to science careers (which would further perpetuate class inequalities). Thus, the strategies of socialist feminists to increase girls’ and women’s access to science and engineering education focuses on the relation of gender and class. Socialist feminists call for equal resources for girls of all classes (computers, technical training, etc.), and propose remedies to the disadvantages that capitalism brings to those in under-privileged classes (for example, special technology programs in underprivileged schools or programs to provide lower class families with the equipment necessary for technical learning).
