Science and technology have played a critical role in altering the course of human history. Two major advances in science and technology have been the internal combustion engine, and conventional weapons. The internal combustion engine which is now used in today’s cars, trucks and other motorized vehicles has had one of the largest effects on human history. People traveled places now, instead of staying at home all the time. People also moved away from the cities and traveled to work, because they no longer had to walk, they could drive. The engines also revolutionized travel when they were put in planes.
