YOU may be wondering about the headline – no, no, this is not a jibe at Nokia for coming up with a product that is behind its time. The 3530 is quite a nice product, if a tad imperfect as you shall read.
I remember using Nokia’s legendary 3210; it was nice and if it had one flaw, it was the noticeable weight, which made it impractical for me to put it in my shirt pocket.
Fast forward to 2003, and Nokia’s 3530 at cursory glance would seem to be a throwback to the 3210. The physical resemblance seems almost uncanny, but after playing with it for half an hour or so, I noticed how many improvements the latest member of the Nokia family has.

I liked the 3530’s bulk – yes, I’m probably one of the few who sneer at the trend of the ever-shrinking handphone. ... Hmmm, call me sexist, but I reckon it’s one manly phone :-)
