Throughout all of Ayn Rand’s Novels, egoism and individuality are common themes. The whole plot of Anthem revolves around the quest that Prometheus embarked on in finding his individuality- in developing his ego. Although people have argued that egoism is horrible- sinful, even- it has proven its importance to all of us in Anthem. ... This disparity is the very basis of Anthem - without it, there would be no “anthem. ... After having seen how the people in Anthem’s society lived, one can see the importance of possessing an ego, of having choices and opinions. The last two chapters basically reiterate the implied idea of egoism being the basis of our current society , as well as leave a great impact on your belief structure.
Once again, this book is an anthem made to man’s ego, but there is a difference between having a good ego and an excessive one.
