Setting new goals every portfolio became a hard thing to do; how many times could I write, “I’ll enhance my vocabulary and use a thesaurus,” and “I’ll improve my work ethic,” when all I really wanted to write was, “Nobody follows through with their goals anyway!” Although in past years these little “New Quarter Resolutions” became monotonous and insignificant, this year has changes entirely and I have found that my lack of setting attainable goals has lead to my downfall and regression of work. ... My college essay was important to me because I want to get into college, but I will not get there if I do not take this attitude and work ethic with me through every paper and project, because my grades are not only the deciding factor on whether I get in, but they also will decide how I will perform once I get there.
