Much social discrimination and prejudice is attributed to homosexuals in Singapore.
Recently this year, there has been quite an outcry following Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong’s disclosure that declared homosexuals would no longer be rejected for ‘sensitive jobs’ – later, he mentioned ‘government positions’ as some of these jobs. ...
I managed to stumble upon an article in Female magazine about this issue of homosexuals in Singapore finally getting their fair share of acceptance, thus this article will be my “real world” example of one of the concepts that I had learned during my lectures, which is, discrimination, and in this case, homosexual discrimination.
This article for instance, distinctively shows that homosexuals here are looked at differently by the masses in Singapore. ... Even up till now, despite the government’s new liberal stance towards hiring homosexuals and the acceptance of them in our Singaporean community, he still gets looked at weirdly and disgustedly by fellow Singaporeans when he walks in shopping malls or on the streets.
Can something de done to society that can change our mindset of homosexuals? ...
