In this article they explain how TV remotes work. They tell you that if you were to open a remote you would see a printed circuit board. In this circuit board there is an integrated circuit. An integrated circuit is also known as a chip. This has a DIP in it or an 18 pin Dual Inline Package, The DIP is connected to a power source, normally a battery. This chip can detect when the button is pushed. Then this takes that message and turn it into a morse code like message. Each key has its own code.
