Parents vs. Youth Participation in Gangs
Gangs, a touchy subject in most American families, mainly for parents who have a child who is a gang member. No parent wants their child to be in a gang, and no young adult wants their parents to control them. This is a long disputed issue that many parents today find hard to cope with.
According to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Fact Sheet,
there were an estimated 772,500-gang members involved in 24,000 youth gangs in the United States last year. About forty percent of these youth gangs were organized specifically for selling drugs. ... I will be sharing certain things that parents can do to help curb the problem of youth participation in gangs.
