Mrs. Mallard, I think died of disappointment, not “the joy that kills” her as the last sentence of the story said. The disappointments I want to mention here are the conflicts; the hardships that she can not overcome had killed her. The conflict between Louise and her husband is the first conflict can easily be seen. Her husband have never expressed his love with her, at least in what her realize as Chopin described her husband’s face “the face that had never looked save with love upon her”. She had to live for her husband all the time.
