What Interested me about the 1980’s was that it was the decade I was born in. A lot of confusion on where to go after the hippies in the 60’s and the disco of the 70’s, led to the new 80’s. Growing in many ways, the U.S. was known for its pop-80’s-culture. The 80’s were full to technology, baby boomers, fashion, rebellion, and entertainments. Throughout the 80’s technology was blooming. There was Post-it-notes, the first all news service started by Turner Cable Network begins, the abortion pill is released in France, United States Is Japans largest automaker, and bill gates licenses Ms-Dos to IBM in the you 1980. In the year 1981, for technology, there was the first IBM-PC’s, the first De Lorean sports cars, and telephone company break up into 22 regional phone companies Camcorders, compact discs, the last De Loreans produced, and hackers invade military computers in 1983. In 1984 the first megabit chip is made in Bell Labs, and apple computer releases Macintosh personal computer. Green Peace’s Rainbow warrior is bombed by the French government during nuclear testing in the pacific protests in 1985 and titanic wreckage is found and filmed by robotic cameras. Entertainment was main key in the 80’s. Many Changes occurred in lifestyles due to new forms of entertainment. 1981 held Dynasty premiers in primetime hours, private satellite dishes are approved by the FCC, and Pac-Man is introduced into the United States in 1982, Michael Jackson hit “thrillers” sells 20 million albums and becomes the largest selling record ever, Ozzy Osborne bites the head off a bat, the Reverend sun myung moon marries, 4,150 followers at Madison square Garden, and De Lorean Motor Company goes bankrupt.
