Have you ever thought about the agony involved when a woman gives birth to babies? Will you bear children? Even one child would be very difficult to bear and take care of. In the 1990s the Japanese government tried to promote a ¡°population drive,¡± which offered a reward to women who gave birth to babies. The ¡°reward¡± was 5,000 yen, or $38 a month, for each child of pre-school age, and twice as much for a third child. The government was worried about the declining birth rate; however, they didn¡¯t prepare proper conditions for women to bear and take care of children. The low wedding rate influenced Japan¡¯s birth rate in 1990. ¡°One scholar recently suggested that sports, video games and other diversions were robbing men of their libido.
