“On What spot in this habitable Globe does an Israelite enjoy more blessings, more privileges?” (page 87) -Jewish Spokesman of the 1820’s This man is speaking so kindly of America, because at this time the Jews were very well regarded. At Harvard Hebrew was taught as a language, and even considered replacing English as the national language. Also Judaism was well thought of because Puritan culture leaned heavily on the Old Testament. This experience is similar to my ancestors who emigrated from Poland to America. They did this during the hardships in Europe, which had been created by political turmoil.
