Topic: Oppression Discrimination can never be eliminated as long as there are different kinds of people in our society. Because of discrimination, people that are different from us are being oppressed. Through the characterization and developments of the characters in "Of Mice and Men", Steinbeck shows us that people like Candy, Curley, and Crooks are different from others and are bound to be oppressed by others. Candy is an example of an oppressed character. He was oppressed because he was old and disabled. He was considered useless and was often overpowered by other characters such as Carlson. He could not even keep his dog without the permission of others. Realizing that he :won・t have no place to go, and can・t get no more jobs,;1 Candy felt worried.
