Of Mice & Men Essay

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a realistic novel that depicts the life of two men who struggle with one another. George constantly struggles to keep his mentally challenged friend Lennie, out of trouble. After getting creating mischief time after time, Lennie finally goes too far, and George is forced to do something about it. After realizing his choices, he does what he thinks is best for him and Lennie and he kills Lennie himself. Was he wrong to do something so unthinkable? Was he doing Lennie justice by killing him out of love rather than seeing him be brutally murdered? A controversial question to be answered but I think George was right. In this Steinbeck novel, two characters, George and Lennie, must coincide with each other despite there differences. Lennie is mentally challenged and doesn’t interpret things as a usual person would. Consequently he gets in trouble rather often. However when Lennie killed a woman, he took his mischief a little too far, and George must find a solution to Lennie’s mistake.
