Psychology evolved from different contributors in history tying back to Greek philosophers. Throughout time fractions of concepts form together to create the definition of psychology as it is studied today. There are various views that play a part in the explanation of psychology. Two figures in history brought dissimilar notions to our understanding. As different as each idea is, they are studied today to reach a better understanding of psychology. John Locke was part of the group of people associated with the term Empiricism. He believed in some of Descartes views of the mind but also disagreed with some views. He opposed to Descartes beliefs about innate ideas, at the same time he agreed with Descartes beliefs on elementary parts as being the building blocks for more complex subjects.
