...s, Cornell University. NSF VIGRE fellow. Research Experience: Fall of 1996, Fall of 1997: Worked with Professor Patricia MacAuley studying various aspects of set theory and model theory. Developed original proofs of the various equivalences of the Axiom of Choice, as well as a compact proof of the Shroeder-Berstein theorem. Also, made a foray into Cohen's book the Continuum Hypothesis and participated in a seminar on model theory and independence proofs. Summer of 1997: Worked with Professor Ross Geogeghan and graduate student John Donnelly in a reading seminar on word-hyperbolic groups. Went through current literature and made analytical tidy ups of several proofs, as well as learning about isoperimetric inequalities in groups. Summer of 1998: SMALL REU at Williams College. Worked with Professor Colin Adams and 3 other students on a then open conjecture in 3-manifold theory. Through geometrical and analytical means, we managed to prove that the Figure-8 knot complement has the smallest cusp volume of any non-compact orientable hyperbolic 3-manifold. Resulting in a paper (still in preparation) called Minimal Volume Maximal Cusps in Hyperbolic 3-Manifolds. Summer of 1999: REU at SUNY Potsdam/Clarkson University. Worked as a group leader with Professor Kazem Mahdavi and 3 other students on several open conjectures in the field of automatic groups. August 2001-May of 2002: Worked with Professor Luise-Charlotte Kappe on open problems in the field of non-abelian tensor products of groups. Obtained several positive results and coauthered a paper (with LC Kappe) called On Subgroups Related to the Non-abelian Tensor Centre, accepted for publication by the Glasgow Journal of Mathematics. Also wrote a Master's thesis under the same title, fleshing out some of the results from the paper. May 2002-Present: Developing a paper on Non-abelian Tensor Varieties. Teaching: Fall 1997-Spring 1999: Teaching Assistant (at Binghamton University) for Calculus I. Ran Discussion Sections. Fall 1999: Taught Calculus I (at Binghamton University). Summer of 2001: Taught Algebra in Binghamton University's BEP Summer Program. Fall 2001: Teaching Assistant for Mathematics in Action course (at Binghamton University). Spring 2002: Taught Calculus II (at Binghamton University). Summer of 2002: Taught Algebra in BEP Program. Fall of 2003: Teaching a Freshman Writing Seminar in M...
