...ou have to pay fifteen dollars. The legal way to street race is to go to a track. The problem is there aren’t very many tracks around. Every state has their hot spots. Some of the popular spots here in Florida are Orlando, the Bay area, Ft. Lauderdale, and Daytona Beach and other places. In California, some places are Kearny Villa, Trade, Firehouse, Old Sorrento, and Final Words. The names of these spots are nicknames for places in towns. (The spot, sdstreetracing.com) So now, you know where to race, but have you thought about the dangers/legalities of street racing? When you street race illegally you are putting not only yourself in danger, but also the lives of many others especially when you race on public highways without blocking it off first. If you aren’t on a legal track then, yes, it is illegal. (Tracks, Super Street June 2000) There has been many of people sentenced to jail time because of street racing. In July of 2001, 21-year old Arturo Ortiz was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for hitting another vehicle and killing the driver and his daughter and injuring two other young passengers, while he was drag racing down a Santa Ana, California, highway. In San Diego alone there as been 14 deaths and 24 serious injuries that were attributed to by illegal street racing. Race Legal programs are being started up all over the country to try and stop all deaths from street racing. The people that do street race on public roadways know it illegal but continue to do it. One reason is that it is an adrenaline rush to be out on the streets because you are at the risk of getting caught. Police are cracking down hard on street racers. The one thing that police don’t understand is that these people are going to race. Law enforcement can do everything possible to write tickets and put them in jail, but they are still going to race. The most loved car out the tracks is Honda. The Acura is very popular too. They have great track time. The best of all time is the Aston Martin. It is the rarity of import cars.
