Some stem cells are totipotent, such as a fertilized egg (zygote), which means it can generate all the cells and tissues that make up an embryo. As stated before, adult mammals have more than two hundred types of cells in our body. Those cells range from muscle cells to bone and cartilage cells. Even cells not inside the body, such as embryonic tissues and the umbilical cord, are generated from the totipotent zygote.
