So this can be used as a basis for recognizing individuals from different regions of Orissa. In this project efforts are made to use various speech processing techniques to design a recognition system that will identify persons from two different regions of Orissa. A speaker recognition system attempts to recognize an individual by his /her voice. Today speaker recognition system has developed to such an extent that it is used in all aspects of life where there is a slightest chance of security failure. The most practical use can be found in applications dealing with security, surveillance, and automatic transcription in multi-speaker environment. Speaker identification is a difficult task, and the task has several different approaches. The basic underlying principle in speaker recognition is to identify the inherent differences in the articulatory organs (the structure of the vocal tract, the size of the nasal cavity and the vocal cord characteristics) and the manner of speaking.
