Keith gets close, and possibly literally correct, but its father’s word and is therefore, impossible to spell. “Soon all four of us were in there watching the Annual Fall Classic, while women prattled away about human relationships or something.” (193) Several young families met at a friend’s house for an evening of “stimulating conversation” and the men could only think about the World Series that they were missing. The men could care less what the women were talking about, doing, etc. They just needed their sports to survive the night of “stimulating conversation”. In this story there are a couple of comparisons and contrasts. One is that men do not have the “eye” for dirt that women do. It just doesn’t stick out. Most men are not neat freaks as are a lot of women. Women could eye a speck of dust from a mile away. The other comparison/contrast is how most women are disgusted when it comes to sports and could live without it. Men consider sports life. “A bill like the one we’ve just passes is of no use unless it goes hand in hand with programs that will offer a new life to these newly released children....
