... these on the basis that the noise would scare away evil spirits. Sometimes the bamboo tubes would have a leak of gunpowder, resulting in them being shot up into the air. A man whose name is lost to history actually tried to make these bamboo tubes shoot off into the air and he was quite successful. The next development was with a man by the name of Robert Goddard. He designed the first liquid propellent rocket in 1926. His idea was to use this design to get into space, but World War Two interrupted his idea when German scientist got the idea of using rockets to gain revenge on the American forces. Von Brauns and his team of scientists designed the first “a1” rocket which was not highly successful after the a1 one rocket was launched and was proven unsuccessful Hitler demanded success and if not execution. Von Braun and his scientists worked long hours on the making of the a2 rocket and in the end worked out to be very acuate. After in was successful, Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany (1933-1945) decided that he didn’t need Von Braun and his team of scientists, so he ordered them to be executed. Von Braun’s brother managed to contact nearby American forces before Hitler’s privet army (SS) could reach them. Von Braun was then taken back to America to design rockets that could be used to strike at Berlin. After the war was over, some of Von Braun’s scientists were transferred to Russia to be put to work. Russia was building much more advanced rockets than America and this made the Americans scared. The Americans thought they were not going to be able to build a rocket bigger than Russias so they thought they would they could beet them in to space, Russia found...
